Acupuncture

Acupunture

Western medical acupuncture is a therapeutic practise based on the principles adapted from traditional Chinese medicine.

Acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins and other substances that relieve pain and inflammation.

Acupuncture influences the tissue by normalising circulation and tension within the myofascial network (promotes muscle relaxation and good circulation).

Acupuncture causes changes to the central, peripheral and autonomic nervous system promoting good well being.

Before acupuncture is considered an accurate diagnosis of your horse’s ailment/problem is required (thorough clinical exam plus or minus xrays, scans or blood work for example). Western acupuncture is evidence based and is administered only after a full diagnosis.

Acupuncture can also be used to enhance a healthy horses performance and also to help in post exercise recovery.

  2. Weak and/ or atrophied muscle (nerve injury or disuse atrophy).
